4. Remember the indeterminate Pronoun EXCEPTIONS, which is dealt with in section 3.5, p.18: Some, Any, None, All and Most. The number of these subjects is influenced by a prepositionphrase between the subject and the verb. Twentyst may seem like a lot of rules for one subject, but you`ll quickly notice that one is related to the other. In the end, everything will make sense. (In the following examples, the consenting subject is large and the verb in italics.) The theme is film; It`s plural, so the verb must stand. Of course, group nouns, like other nouns, can also appear in plural forms (with a s). As in this example, the subject, the book, is singular, the verb must also be singular. A rare type of arrangement that phonologically copies parts of the head instead of agreeing with a grammatical category.

If the different parts of the compound subject are by or even related, use the verb form (singular or plural) that corresponds to the subject close to the verb. In this example, the jury acts as an entity; Therefore, the verb is singular. 11. The singular verb is usually reserved for units of measurement or time. 2.
